Hartsmill Highbanks

September 30, 2016

The Ashe Racing team rolled into the Hartsmill Highbanks track in Trezevant, Tenn., for the first time. The boys were excited to race someplace new and with good advice from Troy Bailey, Mitchell Bridges, Cody Hays and Enik Sanders, we were optimistic. The boys ran one round of practice each and we made some chassis adjustments and gear changes and got ready for the heat races.

Heat Races.
Elliott was first up starting third in Clone Light. When the green flag dropped, Elliott dropped the hammer and shot to the leader's inside to take the lead going into turn one. Elliott stretched out the lead and after a few cautions was still on point. At the end Elliott managed a half track lead for the win.

Franklin was up next in heat race 1 for Clone Heavy. He started on the pole and managed to stretch out to a straightaway lead for the win in his second race in his new Outcast chassis. After a bit of discussion, a few chassis adjustments and tire tweaks, it was feature time.

Feature Races.

Elliott started from the pole on the tires Troy Bailey loaned him (Elliott says he's keeping them!) and when the green flew, the Tomar clutch launched Elliott out front. They stayed green and Elliott stayed glued to the track and when the checkers flew, Elliott had the second and third place karts right in front of him! Elliott drove a great race.

Franklin was up next and started from the pole with Timothy Morris next to him. Morris was fast, winning his heat race, and concerned Franklin a bit but on the start, the Outcast took off with Morris tight to his bumper. It took about seven or eight laps but Franklin finally started to put some track between himself and Morris. As the laps clicked off, Franklin took the Outcast to victory lane again in a two-for-two outing.

Both karts went through post race tech inspection and the Enik Engines passed with flying colors!
The boys really enjoyed the track and the sportsmanship of the other racers.

Special thanks again to those who helped us with tires and info and to our sponsors, Tomar Engineering and Liberty Affairs.
